The Athena Group, LLC, a company of FLT Consulting, is a full-service management consulting firm that has helped leaders with the ingredients of sound decision making since 2000. Our 7-member team has deep and broad experience in facilitating critical community conversations, shaping strategic plans that lead to adaptive action, transforming data into information, and improving systems, processes, programs and performance. JIM DIERS, MEMBER
ASSET-BASED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Jim Diers has a passion for getting people engaged with their communities and in the decisions that affect their lives. He was appointed the first director of Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods in 1988 where he served under three mayors over the next 14 years. Currently, Jim teaches courses in community organizing and development at the University of Washington and serves on the faculty of the Asset- Based Community Development Institute. He travels internationally to deliver speeches, present workshops, and provide technical assistance to community associations, non- profit organizations, and government.
DONNA DOERER, MEMBER
Donna Doerer has over 20 years in fund development, assisting more than 40 nonprofit, educational, and health care organizations to research, prepare and present successful applications to private and public sector grantmakers. Donna has coordinated a team approach to successful grant seeking for nonprofits to secure funds from private and corporate foundations, corporations, and public sector funding at the local, state and federal level. She is a founding member of the Puget Sound Grantwriters Association board of directors, and has established and taught grantwriting courses at Highline Community College and Skagit Valley Community College.
H. STUART ELWAY, MEMBER
PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT AND RESEARCH
H. Stuart Elway has been measuring and analyzing the linkage between public opinion and public policy since 1975, directing hundreds of research projects for large and small businesses, trade and professional associations, governmental agencies at all levels, foundations, ballot issues and media outlets. He has conducted electronic town meetings since 1988 for organizations from the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe to the US Navy and designed nationally acclaimed citizen engagement programs on government accountability and performance. Stuart also has taught in the public affairs graduate schools at the University of Washington and The Evergreen State College.

PAM TOAL, CEO
Pam has more than 20 years’ experience in leadership and management positions in the education and nonprofit sectors. Prior to coaching and consulting, she served for 8 years as a United Way Executive Director, launching new programs, projects and initiatives to address community needs. As a former nonprofit CEO she understands the challenges of leading complex and evolving organizations, and the joy of philanthropy. Pam currently serves on the Board of Washington Nonprofits. Pam attained her coach certification from the Baraka Institute in Portland, Oregon.

CARLOS VENEGAS, PRINCIPAL
Carlos Venegas is the principal of Lean Office Innovation, a Straus Forest company. He has designed and led successful process-improvement implementations in a variety of government and business organizations. Clients appreciate his willingness to listen, his skillful approach, and the level of commitment he brings to every engagement. Carlos is the author of Flow in the Office: Implementing and Sustaining Lean Improvements. He holds a Masters in Applied Behavioral Science and is a certified Lean consultant.
